FISCHER & KRECKE flexo technology steals the limelight at Drupa

Bobst Group Business Area Flexible Materials is pleased to report a highly successful Drupa 2008 exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany (29 May to 11 June) where it presented "The Next Generation" of solutions for converting flexible materials including the new FISCHER & KRECKE FP 16S-10 (colour) flexo press with SMARTGPS. This was unveiled for the first time at Drupa 2008 and was the principal focus of attention on the stand throughout the event. All twice-daily demonstrations of the print job changeover were performed without a hitch using the new, ground-breaking technology of FISCHER & KRECKE’s innovative "Graphic Positioning System".

Over the 14 day event, more than 3000 visitors witnessed faultless machine performances and were visibly impressed by the demonstrations of dramatic reductions in material wastage achievable between print jobs, by using this sophisticated new technology. Substrate wastage can be lower than 20 metres per job change (the overall length of the press) - which over a period of 12 months can lead to a substantial reduction in production costs, vastly improved productivity and profitability for the converter.

The twice daily demonstrations of the FISCHER & KRECKE FP 16S – 10 colour flexo press with SMARTGPS were a huge success and witnessed by packed audiences. Technicians showed the very short length of substrate used for a typical job changeover, achieving perfect registration from the first impression

Not surprisingly, FISCHER & KRECKE concluded several sales of the FP 16S-10 and the FP 14S-8 flexo presses during Drupa for printing plastic film for flexible packaging applications. In addition, many other very positive and promising enquiries were received for further discussion over the coming months. Under the brand of SCHIAVI, the new economic solution EF 4030 flexo press was introduced for the first time and enjoyed a very positive market response.

The daily flexo press demonstrations were followed by a demonstration of the TITAN SR8 cantilever slitter rewinder, which were also very successful and generated many positive enquiries. Several TITAN SR8 and ER610 machines were sold during the exhibition to customers from countries as far apart as Colombia, Poland, South Africa, Italy and Germany - with other sales to be concluded over the next few weeks.

The TITAN SR8 slitter rewinder demonstrations also attracted many interested customers

TITAN also introduced at Drupa for the first time a prototype demonstration of its "HIGHWAY VIEW" connectivity solutions for online remote machine performance monitoring and diagnostics which received a very positive response. Development of this system is still ongoing and it is hoped will be made fully available during 2009.

ROTOMEC demonstrated its wide range of gravure printing technology and coating & laminating solutions both on the main Bobst Group stand at Drupa and also at nearby Bobst Group Deutschland GmbH, in Meerbusch where visitors were taken by a daily shuttle service. TITAN also demonstrated its ER610 slitter rewinder at this location with many positive enquiries. Over the 14 days more than 200 customers visited the Meerbusch facility. KOCHSIEK gravure printing solutions for decorative and liquid packaging applications were also presented on the stand.

ROTOMEC gravure printing equipment was also presented at Bobst Group Germany in nearby Meerbush

Other solutions in slitting & rewinding from ATLAS and in vacuum metallizing from GENERAL were also presented and for which many positive enquiries were also recorded.
